Best AI resume builders in 2026, compared

Published · Written by the Resumark team

Short answer: If you apply to specific jobs and want to see how well your resume matches each one, pick a tool with job-description matching: Jobscan (deepest match report), Teal (matching plus a job tracker), Rezi, Enhancv or Resumark (match score plus approve-each-change tailoring on iPhone, iPad and web). If you need an Android app, Kickresume is the clearest choice. If you want graphic or two-column designs, look at Enhancv or Kickresume. If you already have a clean resume and only need wording help, ChatGPT may be enough.

Disclosure: Resumark is our product. We have tried to be fair, and we say plainly below where another tool is the better fit. Every competitor fact on this page comes from that company's own website, checked in October 2026, and is linked in the Sources section.

How we compared

We looked at the things that decide whether a resume tool helps you get interviews, in this order:

  1. Job-description matching. Can you paste a job post and see what the resume is missing? Most applications go through an applicant tracking system (ATS) first, so this matters more than template count. (You can try a basic version free with our ATS keyword checker.)
  2. Honest editing. Does the AI rewrite in a way you can review, or does it paste in skills and numbers you never gave it?
  3. Output that parses. Single-column layouts with real text are the safe choice for online portals. Our ATS-friendly templates guide explains why.
  4. Platforms. Web, iPhone, iPad, Android.
  5. Price. What is free, what the paid plan costs, and how it bills.

For each tool we read its own homepage, pricing page and help or feature pages in October 2026. We did not buy every paid plan, so we describe features as each company documents them, not as a lab test. Where a pricing page did not show a price we could confirm, we wrote "check current pricing" instead of guessing. We did not use review-site ratings or user counts.

Short reviews

Resumark: best for matching and tailoring on iPhone, iPad and web

Paste a job post and Resumark gives a 0–100 match score with matched and missing keywords, strengths and issues. One-tap tailoring rewrites your headline, summary and relevant bullets in the employer's wording; you approve each change, and it only adds skills you confirm you have. It can also draft a resume from rough notes, import a PDF, Word file, photo or pasted text, and write cover letters. The editor, six single-column ATS-friendly templates, an offline resume health checklist and on-device PDF export are free, and your first job match is free. More matches and the other AI features need Resumark Pro ($2.99/week or $9.99/month on the US App Store, subscribed in the iPhone app).

Pick something else if: you use Android (there is no Android app yet), or you want a graphic, two-column design.

Teal: best if you also want a job tracker

Teal combines a resume builder, a job tracker and a Chrome extension for saving jobs. Its Matching Mode gives a Match Score against a saved job and colour-codes keywords as missing, available in your master resume, or already present. The free plan is generous (unlimited resumes and job tracking, 10 templates), while all job keywords, more templates and unlimited AI need Teal+. Teal is web-based; its own 2026 roundup of resume apps lists no iOS or Android app. Resumark vs Teal.

Jobscan: best dedicated match-rate scanner

Jobscan is built around its resume scanner, which weighs hard skills, soft skills, job title and other keywords against a job description. It also offers an AI resume builder, LinkedIn optimization, a cover letter generator, a job tracker and interview practice. Free accounts get 5 scans a month; Premium costs $49.95 a month, or less per month if you pay quarterly. We found no official Jobscan mobile app. Resumark vs Jobscan.

Rezi: best for a one-time payment

Rezi scores resumes with its Rezi Score and has AI keyword targeting that asks whether a suggested keyword is relevant to your experience before adding a bullet. It is one of the few tools with a lifetime option ($149 one-time). Rezi lists an iOS app for swiping through job matches; we found no Android app. Resumark vs Rezi.

Kickresume: best for Android users and designed templates

Kickresume has iOS and Android apps, 40+ resume templates on Premium, an AI writer that drafts from a job title and job ad, an ATS resume checker, and personal website templates. Its checker scores your resume with 20+ checks and compares it with successful resumes in Kickresume's database; the page does not say it scores against a specific job post. If you are on Android, or you want more visual templates, Kickresume is a better fit than Resumark.

Enhancv: best for visual designs with tailoring

Enhancv offers single-column and double-column templates with bolder designs, AI tailoring that highlights each change for you to accept or reject, and an ATS check against a job ad. The free plan lasts 7 days and adds Enhancv branding. Enhancv's own blog says it has no app in the App Store or Google Play, though it has a mobile web editor. Its pricing page did not show prices we could confirm, so check current pricing.

Resume.io: best for a quick, guided builder

Resume.io focuses on a fast template-based builder, cover letters and resume examples. Its ATS checker runs 16 checks and, if you add a job description, gives a match score as well. The free plan only downloads TXT; PDF needs a paid plan, and the 7-day trial renews every 4 weeks. Resume.io's own iPhone guide points to its mobile website rather than a native app.

Zety: best for pre-written content suggestions

Zety guides you step by step with suggested content, and its resume checker looks at keywords, formatting and alignment with a job description. Building is free but printable PDF and Word downloads need a paid plan. Zety's own blog lists "no mobile app" as a drawback; it works in a phone browser.

ChatGPT: best for brainstorming and rewording

ChatGPT is a general assistant, not a resume builder: no templates, no saved resume versions, no built-in match score. It is excellent for rewording a bullet, brainstorming achievements or a first cover-letter draft, and it runs everywhere. Check its output carefully, because chatbots can add metrics you never gave them. We cover this in depth in AI resume builder or ChatGPT?.

Which one should you choose?

Check your own match. Paste a job post and your resume to see your 0–100 score and missing keywords. Your first match is free.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI resume builder in 2026?

It depends on how you apply. For job-specific matching on iPhone, iPad and web, Resumark; for a deep match-rate report, Jobscan; for job tracking, Teal; for Android, Kickresume; for designed templates, Enhancv or Kickresume.

Which AI resume builders compare your resume to a job description?

Resumark, Teal, Jobscan, Rezi, Enhancv, Resume.io and Zety all describe a way to check a resume against a job post. Kickresume's ATS checker scores against its database of resumes rather than a specific job ad, and ChatGPT has no built-in score.

Is there a good AI resume builder for Android?

Kickresume has official iOS and Android apps. Resumark has no Android app yet, and Teal, Jobscan, Enhancv, Resume.io and Zety work in a mobile browser rather than through an official app, based on their own sites in October 2026.

Can I just use ChatGPT instead of a resume builder?

Yes, if you already have a clean, single-column resume file and only need better wording. A resume builder helps when you want a parseable PDF, a match score against each job and reviewable edits in one place.
