A teacher resume should show your license and grade levels first, then evidence of student growth, classroom management and how you adapt instruction. Use the terms districts use, such as differentiated instruction, IEP, ELL and the curriculum or assessment tools you know, and keep it to one or two pages.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a teacher resume be?

One page for new and early-career teachers, two for experienced teachers with leadership roles. Put licensure and your most recent teaching role on page one.

How do I write a teacher resume for a career change?

Lead with your license or your route to it, then show transferable experience: training others, coaching, tutoring or work with children. Name the subject expertise from your previous career, which districts value for hard-to-fill subjects such as math and science.

Should I include student test scores?

Yes, as aggregates with no student names: the share of students at grade level, average growth or pass rates. Say which assessment it was and over what period.
